Yoshitake SY-17 Strainer, 2.0 MPa, Cast Stainless Steel

Yoshitake SY-17 strainer with cast stainless steel body, standard 80 mesh, 2.0 MPa maximum pressure. Suitable for steam, air, water, and oil applications.

Yoshitake SY-17 Strainer, 2.0 MPa, Cast Stainless Steel

Yoshitake SY-17 is a high-flow-rate marine type strainer featuring a cast stainless steel body. Designed for a wide variety of applications such as food and chemical industries, and oil, this strainer ensures a large filtration area to minimize flow rate decrease caused by clogging.

Features

  • Cast stainless steel body is rust-less.
  • High-flow-rate marine type with the largest possible filtration area in view of decrease in flow rate caused by clogging.

Nominal Size Selection

To make the best use of the strainer and satisfy operating requirements to the maximum, note the following: Select a strainer of the same nominal size as that of the pipe (nominal size of piping = nominal size of strainer). Using a strainer of a smaller nominal size increases the pressure loss and may result in the pressure falling below the specified level.

Standard Flow Velocity

Based on JIS F 7101 "Shipbuilding - Pipes of machinery - standard velocity of flow":

Precautions for Installation and Operation

Precaution for Installation

  1. Check the direction of the product so that the fluid flowing and the arrow marked on the product are in the same direction.
  2. Secure the space to remove the screen.
  3. Do not apply excessive load, torque, or vibration to the product, as it may result in fluid leakage.

Precaution for Operation

  1. When the product is used for hot fluid, do not touch the product with bare hands to avoid scalds or injury.
  2. Do not retighten the cap or cover after leading fluid into the product. This may damage the gasket and cause outside leakage.

Piping Examples

  • Clogging inside the product can be known from the differential pressure measured when pressure gauges are installed upstream and downstream.
  • The product shall be installed with its cap faced downward. In a steam line, incline the product to the position at which the cap is kept horizontally to minimize pooling of drain.
  • If running fluid from the bottom to the top, install a blow valve to remove scale accumulated at the bottom of the riser pipe.

Maintenance: Disassembly, Cleaning, and Reassembly

Excessive amounts of foreign substances reduce the filtration area and hamper fluid flow, potentially damaging the screen.

Disassembly and Inspection

Completely discharge the pressure inside the product, piping, and equipment prior to disassembly. When fluid is hot, cool down the product to prevent scalds or injury from residual pressure.

  1. After checking the pressure gauge to make certain there is no pressure, remove the cap and screen. Clean the screen by compressed air or water.
  2. Clean the gasket contact surfaces of both the body and the cap to prevent leakage.
  3. When installing caps and bolts, apply an anti-galling agent to the threads.
  4. Attach a new gasket to the cap, then attach the cleaned screen into the groove on the cap. Install the assembly to the body.
