Product Overview

Spirax Sarco AEL5 Series Electric Actuators are reversible actuators with linear output characteristics, specifically designed for DN15 to DN100 control valves. This series offers excellent compatibility and can be fitted to SPIRA-TROL 2-port valves and QL33, QL43, QL63, QL73 3-port valves using appropriate valve adapters and mounting flanges, meeting valve control requirements across various operating conditions.

The actuators are available in four power input options: 230Vac, 115Vac, 24Vac, and 24Vdc. Standard models accept VMD (Valve Motor Drive) signals. For precise control, an AEL5961 positioner board can be installed to accept 4-20mA or 2-10Vdc control signals (note: 24VDC models cannot be fitted with positioner boards). Optional 1kΩ feedback resistance potentiometer is available for use with the positioner board or as feedback for VMD input signals. Additional accessories include auxiliary limit switches and anti-condensation heaters (see TI-P358-28 for details).

Selection Instructions

Selection Steps

1. Determine control valve model, size (DN), Kv value, PN rating, and maximum differential pressure requirements.
2. Select appropriate power supply voltage (230Vac, 115Vac, 24Vac, 24Vdc).
3. Confirm control signal type (standard VMD signal or 4-20mA/2-10Vdc signal; the latter requires ordering a positioner board, except for 24VDC models).
4. Based on valve type and size, select the corresponding mounting flange and valve adapter.
5. If feedback function is required, select models with potentiometer.
6. Based on operating conditions, determine if auxiliary limit switches, anti-condensation heaters, or other accessories are needed.

Notes

• 24VDC actuator models cannot be fitted with positioner boards.
• Actuator installation must include the corresponding mounting flange and valve adapter; do not mix components.
• For actuators with adjustable speed requirements, contact Spirax Sarco directly.
• Positioner board power consumption should be confirmed based on actual model and operating conditions; consult the manufacturer for specific parameters.
• When installing actuators outdoors, ensure adequate protective measures to maintain IP65 enclosure rating effectiveness.

• Product model must specify power supply voltage, control signal type, potentiometer option, and required accessories.
• Mounting flanges and valve adapters must be selected and ordered separately based on valve type and size (except for models with standard inclusion).
• Auxiliary limit switches, anti-condensation heaters, and other accessories must be specified separately when ordering.
• For valves with 0/2-10V or 4-20mA control, the corresponding AEL5961 positioner board must be ordered.
