BURKERT 20111668 Type 2973 2/2-Way Diaphragm Valve, Manually Operated

BURKERT Type 2973 (Article No. 20111668) is a manually operated 2/2-way diaphragm valve designed for hygienic, sterile, and aggressive process environments. This specific configuration features a DN 15 (21.3 x 1.6 mm) welded connection conforming to DIN EN ISO 1127 / ISO 4200 / DIN 11866 Series B. The flow-optimized valve body is constructed from forged stainless steel 316L/1.4435 BN2 with minimal dead space, enabling high flow values (Kv value 6 m³/h). It utilizes a high-performance PTFE diaphragm with an EPDM backing membrane, supporting medium temperatures from -10 °C to +130 °C and operating pressures up to 10 bar. The manual actuator features a 45 mm PPS handwheel and a visual position indicator, offering a compact and autoclavable design.

The valve is fully CIP and SIP capable, making it ideal for food, beverage, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical applications. It complies with FDA and USP Class VI standards for food and pharmaceutical contact. Additionally, this model carries ATEX and IECEx certifications for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (Zone 1/21 and Zone 2/22).

  • Food and Pharma: FDA compliant, USP Class VI compliant, and suitable for use with food and beverages according to EC Regulation 1935/2004.
  • Certifications: Includes Manufacturer's test certificate 3.1 and Factory certification 2.1 for the membrane.

Safety Instructions

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium: Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or empty the lines. Explosion Hazard: Ensure proper grounding of the valve body and actuator to prevent electrostatic charging in Ex areas. Only clean with a damp or antistatic cloth.

Installation Note

For self-draining operation, the valve must be installed at the correct drainage angle. The marking on the port connection of the valve body serves as an orientation aid and must point upwards.
